Splitgate 2 will relaunch on December 17, 2025 as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded.
After a failed launch earlier this year, developer 1047 Games has announced the upcoming shooter has been rebuilt from the ground up to better reflect what players enjoyed about the original Splitgate.
The studio has rolled back controversial hero abilities, reworked core combat, refreshed the UI, and introduced long-requested competitive features including player statistics, leaderboards and a new career system.
The relaunch will arrive with five new maps, four new weapons, revised progression, a rebuilt Ranked system, simplified monetisation, and new arena modes – including a classic ruleset aimed at restoring the game’s original identity.
Store prices have also been reduced and cosmetics updated following criticism of Splitgate 2’s launch offering.
Splitgate 2’s initial release in June prompted a rapid drop-off in players and negative reception, leading 1047 to “unlaunch” the game in July while it worked on what it described as “big, sweeping changes”.
At the time, CEO Ian Proulx acknowledged the game was not ready and said players wanted something closer to the first title.
Splitgate: Arena Reloaded arrives sooner than previously projected, with 1047 crediting the relaunch to sustained community feedback.
Early responses to the trailer revealing the new name and release date suggest renewed interest ahead of release.
Splitgate: Arena Reloaded launches free-to-play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 17, 2025.
